EPD issued for Pisko roof safety products
We have been awarded an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for our powder coated roofing products. This is a significant step forward in our industry, as Piristeel’s EPD is the first of its kind in Finland in this product category.
The EPD enables us to present the environmental impact of our powder-coated roof safety products in a transparent and open way. The EPD covers steelmade, powder-coated ladder products, snow guards and roof walkways together with their fixing systems.
What is EPD?
EPD, or Environmental Product Declaration, is an official document that provides transparent and objective information on the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle. Based on international standards, the EPD provides comparable information on the environmental impact of different products, helping consumers and businesses to make informed choices. The EPD includes information on the raw material sourcing, manufacturing and use as well as recycling and waste management, etc.
EPDs are used to assess the climate impact of buildings, compare products and communicate their environmental impact, and can play a key role in the choice of products for construction projects.
”Our EPD is a response to customers’ growing needs to assess the environmental impact of roof safety products. We can now better communicate the competitive carbon footprint of this product group in a transparent and verified way. At the same time, both our customers and we ourselves can better understand where the emissions from our products originate and what the share of total emissions is in different life cycle stages,” says Markus Tupala, Technology Manager at Piristeel.
